The Way It Is

Broke my heart to know another's one gone
Guess we're gonna' have to start again on the wrong tone.
Why is it hard for you to realize?
Who do you think you're fooling?
Got to come to this every time
You wont' accept the blame…
And that's a shame.
The way it is.
I can hear you saying it's out your hands.
That it goes beyond your allotted control.
Your ought to take a better look inside
And don't go throwing us bones.
Stop pointing to the other guys
We're not that naïve.
It's plain to see
The way it is.
I can't find myself in your reality
The way you've understood it for so long
Did you notice the last turn of the century?
Isn't it about time?
To change the way it is.
How many dollars spent learning things we already know?
Common sense was invited, but it did not show
You're the one that needs the seminar
Come up with some kind of plan
Take the time think who's really losing out
It ought to make you sad
It's just too bad
The way it is
Wonder should we stick around or just move on
Don't have as many choices like we had when we were young
But, too many good ones are bailing out
They see the writing on the wall
Trying to save a little dignity
Before it's too late
And no difference is made in
The way it is
